Create your own translations

Creating additional languages and changing the system texts

You can also use guestoo to create your own translations, e.g. if you want to create additional languages or customize the texts provided by the system.

The option to create your own translations is a feature that is only included as a standard from the Business subscription. If you would like to use this feature on a lower subscription, you can find more information on prices and conditions here. You can book the feature in the feature shop.

 

As soon as the feature is activated, you will find the new “Translations” tab under the “Settings” menu item.

You have the following options here:

  • Create new translations
  • Customize already existing translations

Create new translation

Create new translation -

In order to customize one of the texts provided by guestoo, proceed as follows:

  • Go to the menu item "Settings"
  • Switch to the "Translations" tab
  • Click on "+Add translation to customize"
  • Enter the word or text to be customized in the input field
  • Click on "Search"
  • You will now be shown all the places where the text you have entered is used in the system
  • Select the desired translations by clicking on the corresponding checkbox in front of the translation
  • Note: Translations that are displayed in a lighter font and do not have a checkbox have already been added.
  • Click on "X take over translations"

Once you have successfully created the translation(s), they will appear in the list.

In order to edit the text of a translation, click in the corresponding text field, change the text and then click on “Save” in the top right-hand corner

 

Note: The translations created here apply agency-wide for all events!

Search and filter translations

Search and filter translations -

In order to keep track of a long list of translations that have already been created, you have two options in guestoo:

Search

To search for a specific translation that you have already created, enter the corresponding text or translation key in the input field. You will then only be shown the translations that contain the word or text you are looking for.

Filter

To filter the list of translations according to certain criteria, click on the filter field on the right-hand side.

In the dialog window that opens, you have the following filter options:

  • Module
    Here you can select which module the translations should belong to. This filter is not relevant for most users and should therefore always be set to “--no selection--” so that no relevant translations are hidden.
  • Languages (hidden)
    The languages you select here will not be displayed in the list (multiple selection possible)
  • Languages (locked)
    The languages you select here are blocked in the translation list, i.e. you cannot edit the translations of these languages as long as this filter is active (multiple selection possible)
  • Only display missing translations ( No / Yes)
    If you select “Yes” here, you can also specify:
    • Language to be displayed: Select the language to be displayed as a reference here
    • Language to be maintained: Select the language you want to maintain here
    • Example: If you select “DE” for Language to be displayed and “EN” for Language to be maintained, you will see all translations for which an English translation is missing.

Manage created translations - Delete, empty & reset

As soon as you have created a translation, you have the following administration and setting options:

  • Delete customized translation
    You can delete a customized translation by clicking on the recycle bin icon next to a translation! If you want to adapt the translation again afterwards, you must add it again and adapt the desired texts.
  • Clear translation for all displayed languages
    By clicking on the eraser symbol next to a translation, you can clear the text of all languages displayed for a translation. This means that NO text is displayed at the corresponding position. Clearing applies to all languages within a translation!
  • Reset translation for all displayed languages
    By clicking on the reset symbol next to a translation, you can reset the text of all displayed languages of a translation to the system default. This will delete your own customized texts. The reset applies to all languages within a translation!

Add more languages

If the desired language is not yet included...

We have already created a selection of different languages for you and you can customize the texts as you wish.
